I’ve been in several sacrament meetings in my life. You walk in dressed in your Sunday best, a church hymn playing in the background, and everyone’s quietly sitting and waiting for the meeting to start...
Today, today it was different. When we walked in today we were all in our work clothes, our rain boots, our tennis shoes, and rain jackets. Today everyone in our church came ready to serve. Today we came in carrying water, food, toiletries, storm necessities, shovels, gasoline, chainsaws, gloves, and so much more. There was an enthusiasm in the room. Not only was everyone going to serve, but they were excited and willing to serve.
Today I felt a strong spirit in that room that strengthened my testimony. A spirit that confirmed to me today, as well as many many times in the past, that this is Christ’s church. I truly know and believe that “when you are in the service of your fellow beings you are only in the service of your God”
